This dish was served tous over 30 years ago and we have loved it ever since!
We first ate this about 30 years ago. We had friends who were French-Canadian and they served this to us. We have loved it ever since and I always get some of our pork ground without seasonings so that I can make this dish.
1 pound ground lean pork
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 clove garlic (cut in half)
1/8 teaspoon mace
1 ½ teaspoons corn starch
1 cup water
Pastry for 2 crust 8 inch pie
In a saucepan, combine the pork, seasonings, corn starch & water.
Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
Uncover and cook 10 minutes more.
Remove both pieces of garlic.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Line an 8 inch pie pan with pastry and pour in the pork mixture and cover with the remaining pastry. Press edges together and prick top with a fork to allow steam to escape.
Bake for 10 minutes at 425 degrees and then reduce heat to 350 degrees.
Bake for 30 minutes longer. Serve hot.
